Catherine LaSota

Catherine LaSota is a writer, artist, creativity coach, and community facilitator based in Queens, NYC, where she lives with her husband and two young children. From early 2024 until the sunset of Social Practice CUNY in February 2027, she has been associate director of SPCUNY, where she’s developed programs for SPCUNY Fellows and the public and has hosted Part of the Practice, SPCUNY’s podcast about the intersection of art and social justice. Prior to her work with Social Practice CUNY, Catherine was Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Social Difference and Assistant Director of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University. Catherine also hosts Feed the Art, a podcast about nourishing your creative practice, and runs reading, writing, and music events and workshops throughout New York City and online, to support people in sustaining their creative practices.
